A low aperture of f/2.8 makes the 17-70 mm suitable for shooting subjects at extremely close range and in low light conditions. With seven rounded blades making up the diaphragm you can get creative by creating a smooth bokeh in the background. Get closer to your subject A dedicated macro function and minimum focusing distance of 22 cm makes the 17-70 mm ideal for close-up photography. A Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures quiet focusing, ideal when capturing small insects. For sharp, blur-free images, the 17-70 mm incorporates Sigma’s Optical Stabiliser (OS) which offers effective correction of approximately 4 stops to counter camera shake even during macro photography. Superior quality The 17-70 mm incorporates two “F” Low Dispersion glass elements to eliminate chromatic aberration of magnification and axial chromatic aberration for excellent image quality throughout the entire zoom range.
